Taking care of your feet

Even if you don’t have a romantic stalker watching you and every single step you take, it’s a good idea to keep your feet groomed. The nasty bacteria — Streptococcus — can enter your body through these cracks and cause the infection. Not to mention that if the skin is not healthy and elastic it can’t resist fungal infections too. There are a few simple rules to follow to keep your feet pretty and healthy.

Avoid hot water

There are no sebaceous glands on the soles of our feet. When you bathe in hot water, it can wash off the little protection the skin has and leave it almost helpless. Instead, we recommend lukewarm water baths with the addition of salts. Put your feet into a bath like that for 10-15 minutes before exfoliating — dead skin cells will be easier to remove. However, don’t do salt feet baths too often, once or twice a week should be just enough.

Exfoliate dead skin cells

The top layer of your skin is made of dead cells. Overtime their amount increases and it results in dull, dry skin. These extra layers also prevent moisturizing products from working inside the living tissue. It is necessary to scrub the dry dead layers of cells to keep the skin on your feet healthy. For mild exfoliation, you can use peeling products designed to dissolve the dead skin cells chemically.

Hydrate skin on your feet

We recommend using feet moisturizers after the shower. As the skin here has almost no sebaceous glands, you need to help it stay soft and elastic. Avoid the patches of skin between fingers while applying the foot cream — they don’t require hydrating as much, while any extra moisture here could lead to fungus development.

Use deodorants

The lovely combination of synthetic fibers in your sports shoes lining, the sweat, and the bacteria, produces an unforgettable smell. To avoid any awkward situations connected with it you can use the foot deodorants. They keep the bacteria in control and leave the nasty smell out of the equation. 

Regular care

It is not important how expensive your feet moisturizer is if you don’t use it regularly. Choose a comfortable feet care schedule that would be easy to stick to — you don’t have to do it every day, you need to do it regularly enough to prevent serious health issues that could arise.
